Training Stats
The stats, strength, dexterity, and intelligence, can constantly be adjusted to suit your character's needs. Each stat can be raised to a maximum of 150 points, not including the effects of any equipment or spell effects. The sum of your three stats can be raised to 305 if you have not used a stat power scroll, 310 if you've used a +5 stat power scroll, 315 if you've used a +10 scroll, etc.
Your stats have a chance of changing when you use skills, specifically in situations where you're using a skill with a chance of skill gain. For example if you cast the lightning spell when your magery skill is 25, you have a chance of raising your intelligence stat (as well as your magery skill). Casting lightning at either 0 or 100 magery skill will never help you raise stats. Likewise, using a dagger to fight a zombie might raise your strength or dexterity if you have very low fencing skill. If you have 100 fencing skill you can still use fencing to raise dexterity or strength, but you will need to fight something of corresponding skill level. Note that you can still use a skill to raise stats when you have reached a skill cap, as long as you still have a chance of failure due to insufficient skill. Therefore a skill such as fencing can always be used for stat training as you can always find a tough opponent, however a skill such as snooping will be useless for stat training when you reach 100 skill as there is no chance of skill failure.
When training your stats, be sure to use the raise/lower/lock buttons in your status bar to control which stats will change. In the example below, strength will go down, intelligence will go up, and dexterity will not change.
