NPC Guilds
A player can be in two different types of guilds at one time: player guilds, which are formed by players, are typically what is referred to when people talk about guilds. However a player can also be a member of an NPC guild.
An NPC guild is generally a type of trade organization. NPC guilds serve little purpose at this time, with the notable exception of the thief guild which provides several advantages as well as disadvantages.
NPC guilds have various membership criteria; for example the thief guild requires a certain level of stealing skill. However most guilds have the following minimum requirements:
- You must have 2 days of in-game age.
- You cannot be a member of another NPC guild.
- You must pay the join fee (usually 500 gold).
Of note, the thief guild has a few additional requirements:
- You must have 7 days of real time age.
- You cannot be Young.
- Your stealing skill must be at least 60.
- You cannot have any kill counts.
To join an NPC guild, find a guildmaster of that guild (look in various towns). Say their name and "join", for example "roberta join". If you need to pay gold to join, drop the gold directly onto them.
Most guilds also have a minimum membership time before you can resign from the guild. This is typically 4 days of in-game age and 7 days of real time age. You can use the [npcguild command to see your current guild status. To resign, approach the guildmaster and say "{name} resign".
