Mining
Mining is probably the most useful harvesting skill. Higher mining skill gives you the ability to access higher level metals, as well as a higher chance of successfully smelting those metals.
To mine, and to train mining, use a pickaxe or a shovel on a cave/dungeon floor, a mountain side, or a rock outcropping. Shovels are generally preferred because of their lighter weight, and weight is important because iron ore is heavy and you'll want as much free space in your backpack as possible.
Once you have mined some ore, smelt it into ingots by double-clicking it and targeting a forge. The traditional technique is to use pack animals to carry your ore, and smelt it in town forges. Miners today find it effective to recall to mountains and recall back to a forge; to smelt ore on a fire beetle; or to carry a portable forge, which is can be acquired by donating to the shard.
Here are the skill levels you must have in order to be able to mine colored ore:
Dull Copper - 65
Shadow Iron - 70
Copper - 75
Bronze - 80
Golden - 85
Agapite - 90
Verite - 95
Valorite - 99
Grandmaster miners can also mine for sand and granite. In order to do this, you must first purchase and read the instruction books provided by the gargoyles found in the gargoyle town in Ilshenar, Ver Lor Reg. After that is done, single-click a shovel to select which material you want to mine for.
