Hiding
The ability to hide with a skill, while not as powerful as before, is stil very useful. There are other ways to hide - using the invisibility spell, using smoke/egg bombs, and in the future, drinking an invisibility potion. But using the hiding spell (activated from the skill list) is instantaneous and requires no other tools/resources. There are many situations where that is useful. Unlike the invisibility spell, hiding using the skill never wears off; you remain hidden until you make yourself visible or until someone detects you.
If you are detected, you will be unable to hide (or use any other method of hiding such as the invisibility spell) for a short period of time.
The main drawbacks of using the hiding skill are that it can only be used once every ten seconds, and it cannot be used if you are in line of sight and in close range of anything that is attacking you.
Besides being able to activate it for normal use, it is also important to have the hiding skill because it is a prerequisite for training the stealth skill.
An attempt to hide in a house does not depend on skill level. Likewise, the hiding skill cannot be trained in a house.
To train hiding, simply use the hiding skill repeatedly every ten seconds.
