Forensics
The forensic evaluation skill, when activated from the skill list, has two purposes.
When you target a corpse, you may learn who the killer is, as well as who disturbed the corpse - either double clicked to open it, or cut it with a blade. Note that if someone disturbed a corpse, it does not necessarily mean that they looted it.
When you target a player, you can learn whether or not that player is a member of the thieves' guild.
One additional benefit of learning forensic evaluation is the ability to craft books of kills with inscription.
Forensic evaluation is also used to identify the owner of lost equipment - looted equipment that states that it is a "Lost Item." Return lost equipment directly to its owner for maximum benefit to your Honesty virtue.
Forensic evaluation can be trained by repeatedly using the skill on corpses.
