Factions on ABCUO
Factions are an ongoing war scenario in the world of Ultima Online. Choose a faction to fight for, capture and defend towns for your faction, and rise within the ranks of your faction.

The faction system on ABCUO is enhanced beyond the standard faction system. We believe that the standard system is incomplete, that it provides a pretense for combat but no real meaning. Our faction system provides purpose for both capturing faction towns, and for attaining faction rank.
Note: In order to access the Minax faction base your Ultima Online client must be updated to version 6.0.0 or higher.
Item Benefits for Faction Members
Members of any faction are entitled to wear a faction robe. Faction robes provide combat bonuses depending on which faction you're in, and how many towns your faction controls. Chaos faction robes (COM and SL) have 5 DCI; Order faction robes (TB and Minax) have 5 HCI.
If your faction controls five of the faction towns, your robes will have 5 bonus intelligence if you're in COM or TB, or 5 bonus dexterity if you're in SL or Minax.
If your faction controls all eight towns, your robes will have 10 bonus intelligence (COM or TB) or 10 bonus dexterity (SL or Minax).
If you are a faction commander, or if you have a rank of 7 or higher, you are entitled to wear war leader's sandals. These special sandals have 5% in each resistance.
While you will be entitled to wear these items, they are not gifts. When you join a faction you get your first robe for free; however all faction items expire and are deleted in one week. After an item expires, you can purchase new robes and sandals from special vendors located inside each faction stronghold. The one week expiration countdown begins the instant when the robe or sandals are created, so it is best not to purchase them in advance. The cost for robes and sandals is 2000 faction silver apiece.
Faction Tuning
Along with these faction enhancements, the faction system has been tuned to suit our shard as follows:
Faction town sigils take 8 hours to corrupt.
Skill loss time is 5 minutes upon death if towns are capturable, and 1 minute if they are not. Faction kill points are not awarded for killing faction members who are under skill loss.
Faction guards are limited to 4 of each type per town, and the cost is double the standard amount.
Faction load balancing begins almost immediately - once a faction reaches 10 members, nobody may join a faction that is over twice the size of the smallest faction.
When a faction controls five or more towns, no new players can join that faction.
Faction combat is active on all facets except the three trammel dungeons.
Party restrictions among competing factions have been removed.
Wisps award only 15 faction silver each.
Faction quit time is 7 days.
Faction members can communicate with each other using the [fc faction chat command.
Faction status can be viewed on the faction page in MyABCUO.
Each connecting IP address can only be in one faction; there may be multiple characters in a faction, but not in different factions. Attempts to log in to characters in different factions will fail.
