Neon Weapons
Neon weapons are noticeable at first because of their unusual colors. A weapon will take a neon color when one of the elemental damages is at least 50%. This requires that the weapon have elemental damage as one of its magical properties, and in some cases may also require that the weapon be enhanced with colored ingots.
The practical benefit of neon weapons is small. With no skill cap, everyone can use the chivalry spell Consecrate Weapon, giving their weapon the most effective elemental damage. On the other hand, Consecrate Weapon does nothing to change the appearance of the weapon.
The intensity of the weapon's color depends on the amount of elemental damage it does. If a weapon has some elemental damage but not 100%, it may be desirable to attempt to enhance the weapon to achieve 100% (or close to it) in one elemental damage, for practical or more likely aesthetic reasons. When a neon weapon is enhanced with colored ingots, the weapon will maximize one elemental damage if possible. For example if a weapon has 40% poison and 40% energy damage (and 20% physical), when enhanced with verite this weapon will take a green hue with 80% poison and 20% energy damage, as poison damage is maximized. If the very same weapon is enhanced with valorite, it will have 40% poison and 60% energy, maximizing one elemental damage rather than splitting it to 50% poison and 50% energy.
Because elemental damage is one of the weapon's limited number of magical properties, it is unusual to find a neon weapon that also has high-end properties for combat purposes.
