New Player Guide - Logging Out
No, please don't leave!
At some point in your adventures you may feel a funny feeling in your stomach. In real life that is - when's the last time you've had something to eat? Or how about getting a little sleep?
When you need to take a break from the game, be sure to log out completely. If you simply close UO you may be leaving yourself in danger! To log out properly, head to either a house (yours or a friend's), or any inn in town. When you log out from there, you will completely log out; your character will no longer be in the world, vulnerable to attacks from monsters or pranksters.
On the other hand if you log out from any old location, your character will remain in the world even though you have disconnected. Who knows what may happen then - monsters can attack and kill you, thieves can steal from you, etc. Don't assume that you're safe just because you're in town. You may log back in the next day as a ghost, your belongings gone forever and nobody able to help you. So play it safe, and come back soon!
