Download the Client
The first step to playing the game is to download and install the Ultima Online client. We recommend the classic 2D client for best results. The installation package is about 800 megabytes in size.

Connect to ABC Ultima Online
Once you have downloaded and installed Ultima Online, the next step is to connect to our server. If you start Ultima Online right away, you'll connect to the pay servers run by EA. Redirect your client to point to ABCUO by doing this:
- Find the Login.cfg file. It's in your UO installation folder, for example:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss Classic\Login.cfg
- Replace that file with our configuration; Download a new Login.cfg file here
(Right-click and "save link as" to your hard drive, then move it to your UO folder.)
If you prefer to manually change your Login.cfg file, do this:
- Open Login.cfg in a text editor such as notepad.
- Replace the contents of the entire file with this line:
LoginServer=uo.abcuo.com,2593
- You're done! Start Ultima Online, then type in a new account name and password.
Connect with Razor
Many players find it easiest to connect to ABCUO using Razor. Razor is a client assist tool provided and supported by RUNUO.
Download Razor here.
After installation is complete, run Razor and fill in the blanks as follows:
Server: uo.abcuo.com
Port: 2593
Fill in the information and click Okay. If all goes well, you'll see the Ultima Online login screen. Type in a new account name and password to create your new account, and you're ready to go!
When running Razor you may get a "No CliLoc" error message. If this happens, and you've installed UO normally using the current download, you will need to update the registry. Download this file. If you've installed UO in the default location on the C drive, run the razorsetup.reg file you just downloaded. If you've changed the installation directory, open razorsetup.reg in notepad and change each line to reflect the location of your UO installation, and then run the file.
If you installed using the latest installation package (version 7_0_3_0) you might try running this file instead.
Patch to the latest client
It is recommended that you patch to the latest version of the Ultima Online client. To do this, you should run the UOPatch program:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online 2D Client\UOPatch.exe
or
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss Classic\UOPatch.exe
The patcher should run to completion. When it's finished, press the Cancel button and log in as usual. When you log in, you'll receive a message if you aren't using the correct version.
If the patcher gives an error, you have something unusual going on with your installation. The easiest thing you can try to resolve this problem is to uninstall Ultima Online, reinstall it, and then try running the patcher again.
You can also try reading the patch log file, called "patchlog" in your Ultima Online directory. Unfortunately staff cannot assist you with interpreting the contents of the file. It may be helpful to try asking players in the forums.
Using the Enhanced Client
The enhanced (aka Stygian Abyss) Ultima Online client can be used to connect to ABCUO. It is still in beta so unfortunately if you have any problems with it we cannot provide any technical support regarding its use.
- Download the Enhanced Client.

- Patch the Enhanced Client. After downloading the installation package, run Ultima Online. This will start the patch process which will download some very large files - be patient! Let the patcher run to completion. After the patcher completes, press Cancel to exit.
- Update the Enhanced Client. To connect to ABCUO, you must update the Stygian Abyss program - download the updater here.
Move the file somewhere convenient for you and double click it. The updater will create a new Stygian Abyss program called ABC.exe; use this to connect to ABCUO.
The updater currently runs with enhanced client version 4.0.7.5. If the client version changes, the updater will not work. Please notify staff if a higher version is required.
